Welcome to the inaugural issue! To celebrate, here are some of my favorite quilts from all those that I’ve met over the last few decades.

I love the color palette of this quilt, the visual balance and rhythm of the patchwork shapes, the tiny saw teeth, and the Garden Maze sashing.

The Women’s Rights Quilt, c. 1870
I “discovered” this quilt back in the 1980s. One of my students brought it to class. Even way back when I was just starting to learn about quilt history, I was sure it was a unique and spectacular quilt, with provenance and written captions for the story blocks written by the quiltmaker. I urged my student to get it appraised and get some advice on what to do with it in the future. Since then, it’s been published several times, and has been acquired by the Met Museum! Read More

My most recently completed art quilt. It was inspired by a meditative moment in the park across from my house. These might be messages from our planet to lead us to a better relationship with her and with each other. Read More
