Hello!
I thought today I’d share a little about one of the quilts that took part in the newsletter launch. I used this photo in several of my promo notices.

The pattern is called Magic Vine, first published in the mid-1930s. I’ve heard the green color called “That 1930s Green”, since it’s such a good indicator of the era. When it was first on the market, however, it was sold as Nile Green.
I bought the unfinished top at the antique quilt store where I worked for quite a while. The whole center panel was completed. The vine borders were nearly complete, and not attached. Amazingly, the top came along with a huge piece of matching green fabric for the back, and a couple of packs of bias binding. Here’s the whole quilt, after I quilted it.

The stitching on the appliqué is spectacular.

Here’s the bias tape. On the back it still has the price sticker - 15 cents.

Another fun thing about this quilt is that the quilter sometimes chose fabrics where the print is really similar to the flower’s shape.
